St. David’s Nursery School

Philosophy
St. David’s Nursery School is dedicated to the growth and development of the whole child: his or her social, emotional, intellectual and physical needs. We believe that young children learn most naturally and effectively through interaction with other children, caring adults and educational toys. Our program offers rich and varied learning experiences, carefully supervised by concerned teachers. Our teachers understand each child’s need to feel safe, to be considered special, and to be listened to.

We are committed to providing a warm and challenging environment where creative play and learning can flourish. In this positive environment, sound human relationships can develop and the child can grow at the level of his or her potential. This promotes the formation of self-confidence and a positive self-image.

Staff
Our staff is comprised of qualified, professional teachers who are dedicated to the education of young children. To ensure personal attention, the teacher to pupil ratio is 1 to 10 (1-8 in the Turning 3's class). Several times each month all children have music time with a specialized music teacher. Early childhood assistants also assist in the classrooms.

The teaching staff at St. David’s is unique in its dedication and overall level of experience.

Organization and Facilities
St. David’s has been serving Glenview children since 1954. We are a nonprofit, non-denominational school that is licensed by the State of Illinois. We utilize a nondiscrimination policy of admission. A parent volunteer board operates the preschool.

The Nursery School is housed in a wing of the educational building of St. David’s Episcopal Church, and is located at the corner of Glenview and Shermer Roads.

In Spring 2003, St. David’s completely renovated its outdoor playground. We now have a fully equipped, fenced playground that includes a tricycle track, bridge and gas pump, large playhouse, sand play area, lateral rock climbing wall and other attractions. There is also an indoor playroom that is used in inclement weather. In addition, St. David’s offers a convenient drop-off and pickup service from the circle drive in front of the main entrance.
